Surabaya Sweet Rojak

Tanggulangin leather industry, is an industrial for bags, luggage and products related and become an icon for Tanggulangin district. This industrial was begin in 1939, when some craftsmen started making bags and suitcase stuffs. And in 1976 it was established the Bags and Luggage Cooperative Industrial (Intako), which was initially consisted of only 27 people.



The venture capital is obtained from members' savings. On its way, the cooperative continued to grow and the members has reached 354 crafters of Small and Medium Enteprises with the assets about Rp 10 billion.



Unfortunately, after the Lapindo mudflow it almost 70 percent of crafters in Tanggulangin already bankrupt. Some of them who still survive are only work for orders.



Tanggulangin bags and suitcases manufacture is one of the tourism icons in Sidoarjo. The products include bags, briefcases, wallets, belts and shoes. The products are having good quality that has been recognized by consumers.



Tanggulangin leather industry is having the same concept like in Cibaduyut leather industry in West Java. The area is full of leather fashion stores that offer some particular design into the display wall. Hence, the customers will enjoy their window shopping before entering the chosen store. On each stores, the products are having competitive price among others and having the same quality in design or pattern.

The Stairs To Geger Hill

Geger hill is located approximately 30 km southeast of the City Bangkalan, precisely in the village of Geger, District Geger. This hill is located at an altitude of about 150-200 meters above sea level.



According to the folk legend, Geger hill was the first place that had been visited by the first civilian who came in Madura. On 7-8 Century, it was Patih Pranggulan from Mendangkawulan kingdom in the the foothill of Semeru became the first man who landed in Planggirân ( a set of rocks) in Geger hill. At that time he came together with Princess Dewi Ratna Roroagung, the daughter of Mendangkawulan king, and she was pregnant.



Both Patih Pranggulan and Princess Dewi Ratna Roroagung which was called as Putri Koneng or Koneng princess was castaway. At geger hill, the princess Koneng was always did meditation at the edge of the cliff, everyday before the sunset. Now, the rock that seems like chair is being called as Palènggiyân (Madura).



Relating the folk legend above, in Geger hill, there are five legendary caves in the form of Madurese language, like Petapan cave (the cave for meditation), Goa Potre (princess cave ), Goa Planangan (men cave), Goa Pancong Pote (white lynch cave) and Goa Olar (Snake Cave).



Up to now, in that location there are some visitors from Madura or the outside Madura come to those sites doing some meditating or praying, the local people call this as Tirakatan.



Geger hill is such a potential destination in Madura, for it has camping ground for those who want to explore more about this hill. Moreover, there is also Acacia forest, Mahogany forest and Teak forest that covering 42 hectares of the hil. We can see the beautiful rice field and some lakes over the sightseeing and a resort on the hilltop of Pelanggiran site. Furthermore, it become more potential to be the tourism destination in Bangkalan because this site is having the historical background of the first founding of Madura.

Ski Lot; Ski On 'Celot'

Ski lot is such a traditional game from Lekok village, one of urban areas in Pasuruan Regency. At early begin, this game was played by the fishermans who spend the vacant time during their fishing time. This game is held on Ramadhan, which is precisely held on the seven day after Idul Fitri or the local inhabitant called as “Lebaran Ketupat”. Nowadays, this game is become an annual ceremony that always be a special event welcoming Ramadhan. This game is also has value to be a thanksgiving day for the sea harvest, especially for the fisherman, and become the thanksgiving day for the whole days accomplish during fasting month of Ramadhan.



This game is quiet simple to be prepared, this is held in the middle of mud field for about 50 meters line and the players are use the ski board for about 30cm X 100cm. The game is divide into two categories, which is the session for adult and children category. For adult category the line track is about 100meters long, which can be done back and forth.



After the whistle is ring, the players are set to go with their board. The players have to squat with one leg on the ski board, while the other is running to be the first. There are 4 lines in every session of the game. In every lines there is one line rob to define the line and flags.



Out of this game, there are others festival among the inhabitant that can be an entertainment for the crowds. This is also become a tradition for the fisherman to decorate their ship board.



In conclusion, Lebaran Ketupat for the people in Lekok village is become a special day, beside, they are off to sail, other moment is also about the Ski lot annual game that bring happiness and togetherness among the society. Moreover, this tradition is also become the thanksgiving day within Ramadhan and in moment of Idul Fitri great holiday.

The Calm On Rengganis Peak

Rengganis peak is settled on Mount Argopuro, Situbondo, East Java. Mount Argopuro is one of the volcanic mountains that still active in East Java. It is about 2,300 km above the sea level. As a Natural Resource Conversation, mount Argopuro is worth to be visit especially for those who like hiking or mount climbing. As well as historical heritages of Blambangan kingdom and Dutch colonial, there is also a dry lake over there.



Mount Argopuro is an animal preservation area because of the population of peacocks and the beauty is so spectacular due to some reason: First, the hiking adventure of Rengganis Peak will give a special challenge to climbers because they will need at least three days round trip. Second, to reach Rengganis Peak, you have to pass Sikasur, a very wide savannah (50 ha), which used to be local airport for the Dutch military airplanes and this was the only one airport located on a mountain peak in Indonesia. Besides the peak, it is also an area of the spreading Edelweiss and will make you impressed.



On the Rengganis Peak, you will also find an old building of the kingdom Rengganis Goddess - 2,300 meters above the sea level. To reach the peak, you can start from the nearest Hotels at Pasir Putih Resort. From Pasir Putih, you can take a bus going to Surabaya bat you get off at Besuki bus Station, above 15 km and the bus fare is 2,500 rupiahs. From the bus station, you can used public transportation (bemo) to Baderan village and the distance is about 22 km and the fee is 5,000 rupiahs.

Bromo mountain, is the most popular destination in Indonesia that always been visited by both tourist local or foreign. Bromo Mountain is an active volcanic mountain, located in Probolinggo regency, East Java. At 2,329 meters (7,641 ft) it is not the highest peak after all, but is the most well know mountain.



The area is one of the most visited tourist attractions in East Java, Indonesia. The volcano belongs to the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. The name of Bromo derived from Javanese pronunciation of Brahma, the Hindu creator god.



Mount Bromo sits in the middle of a vast plain called the "Sea of Sand" ( in Javanese: Segara Wedi or in Indonesian: Lautan Pasir), a protected nature reserve since 1919. The main gate to the sea of sand and mount Bromo is through Cemorolawang. This is the most crowded visiting area, especially on holidays. There are many kinds activities that could be carried on this area such as; Camping, watching the scenery, horse riding to sea of sand or walking.



Culturally, on the fourteenth day of the Hindu festival of Yadnya Kasada, the Tenggerese people of Probolinggo, East Java, travel up the mountain in order to make offerings of fruit, rice, vegetables, flowers and sacrifices of livestock to the mountain gods by throwing them into the caldera of the volcano.



The origin of the ritual lies in the 15th century legend where a princess named Roro Anteng started the principality of Tengger with her husband, Joko Seger. The couple was childless and therefore prays the assistance of the mountain gods. Fortunately, the gods granted them 24 children but stipulated that the 25th child, named Kesuma, must be thrown into the volcano as human sacrifice. The gods' request was implemented. The tradition of throwing sacrifices into the volcano to appease these ancient deities continues today and called Yadnya Kasada ceremony. Though fraught with danger, some locals risk climbing down into the crater in an attempt to recollect the sacrificed goods that believed could bring them good luck.
