The History Of Ngetos Temple

Ngetos Temple
Candi Ngetos located at Ngetos village, Ngetos district about 5 kilometers to the south of Nganjuk town. There is an inheritance from the year of 859 Saka or 937 Masehi. This inheritance was made from the red bricks. On that place, Anjuk Ladang, the ancient inscription was also found. Near to this place, there is an historical ancient inheritance that was known by Candi Ngetos. According to the historian, based on that temple form, this temple has made in XV century (Majapahit era). Phisically, this temple has broken and it can not identify anymore. It leave the main of the temple, that has four relief.
This temple is believed as Hayam Wuruk (the famous King of Mojopahit) grave. At that time, he want to be buried in a place which stay in front of the Wilis mountain. This area is one of Mojopahit part. Then Hayam Wuruk has an idea and asked his uncle (the King of wind) named Raden Condromowo and titled Raden Ngabei Selopurwoto, to built the temple. He also asked his uncle to buried him in this temple if he had die. The society around also believe that in Ngetos, there was twin temple and called Tajum temple. But one of them was bigger than the other. It was said that the Hayam Wuruk grave was in the temple that was gone.

The History Of Hok Yoe Kiong Temple

Hok Yoe Kiong Temple
It was half century ago, the Chinese people in Nganjuk town was Kong Hu Cu. Unfortunately, there were not such appropriate temple to go to. The only thing left was the altar for The Honor of Kongco Tik Tjoen Ong, which was in China Gathering Hall, today's known as Dr. Soetomo Street, Nganjuk. Even though the condition of the temple was inappropriate, the Parish was large enough.
Mr. Soen Boen Lee is one of the parishes who always come to pray to the temple. Since he is praying at the temple he feels many graces come into his life, and he feels so blessed and much more prosperity come into his business. Those facts makes The Honor of Kongco Kong Tik Tjoen Ong largely become more famous and attract many more people to come, both from outside or inside the town. This hilarious cannot stay any longer for the temple is not enough to hold the people.
The main existence of the temple is a place to pray and put the statue which symbolizing the Man who’s having great influence for the people indeed. Moreover, it having purpose to memorize the contributions from those Man, in order to be good example for the people nowadays.
The People who come to the temple is consist of some religion, that is why this temple been called as Tri Darma "Hok Yoe Kiong" Sukomoro- Nganjuk. The uniqueness from this temple, where it can't be found from any other temple, there is a pile of earth about 1 meter in one of the room. It been said that the pile was refers to the ant, on the altar written "Ya Ong" or "King of Ant".
Hok Yoe Kiong in Sukomoro, Nganjuk, is not big enough, but it builds on the road margin near with the train station, beside the Sukomoro district office and traditional market, where is the central of Nganjuk Onion. The visitors who come to this temple is not only from local area, but it also come from outside town, especially Surabaya. This thing makes the founder of this temple, Soen Boen Lee and the family feels so happy. Nowadays, the management for this temple is not only come from Tri Darma, but also come from Moslem, Catholic and Christian. They are invited to join in order to maintain this temple. The leader of this temple nowadays is Mr. Teguh who’s got the honor from the people until the temple shown its movement. Socially, this temple has also taking apart in Leong art and Barong Sai, which use the player from local inhabitant. Moreover about sport, in every Sunday morning there are always Early Exercise on the temple for the people around Sukomoro and Nganjuk.

Lor Temple is located in Candirejo village, Loceret district, Nganjuk regency, about 3-4 km to south from Nganjuk city. Lor Temple was built by Mpu Sendok as his sign of his war with Melayu in the year of Saka 859 or 937 M. Phisically, this temple has broke because it is very old. Its height is 9,3 m and made from red bricks. There are some statue, which found in this temple, such as; Ganesha and Nandi statue. Know on, in the west side of temple, there are two statue Ganesha and Siwa Mahadewa, which both of them have no head anymore. In the west side of the statue are Lingga and Yoni, which also has broken. There is also two grave that believed by the people around as Yang Karta and Yang Kerti (the Mpu Sendok server) graves. Nganjuk is a part of East Java regency. Nganjuk is also the central
town between East Java and Mid Java, it is been known as "Windy Town".
It was half century ago, the Chinese people in this town was Kong Hu Cu. unfortunately, there were not such appropriate temple to go to. The only thing left was the altar for The Honor of Kongco Tik Tjoen Ong, which was in China Gathering Hall, today's known as Dr. Soetomo Street, Nganjuk. Even though the condition of the temple was inappropriate, the Parish was large enough.
Mr. Soen Boen Lee is one of the parishes who always come to pray to the temple. Sedudo Waterfall located at Ngliman, Sawahan district. Reachable from Nganjuk about 30 km. The air is fresh and cool. This location is often visited by many of people especially during Suro, one of months of the Javanese year. An impressive waterfall of more than 100 metres high, Sedudo Falls - like many other falls, springs, and wells in Java is believed to be something of a fountain of youth. The district goverment and the public around, always held a traditional ceremony every Suro. According to them, Sedudo Waterfall was used to bath statue in Parna Prahista ceremony, then the water spattered to the body in order to get a safety and eternal youth. The traditional ceremony of taking up Sedudo sacral water as the sign to begin the public bathing is done by 12 girls with long hair and boys. The form this procession is taking a bath together in the pool under Sedudo waterfall, and held every Suro (the first Javanese month). This procession is led by the Regent of Nganjuk and followed by the local visitors, and the tourist who come from the whole Java. After taking a bath, still on the Sedudo area, the visitors are entertained with the traditional art named Jedor.

Nganjuk Ladang Park

Anjuk Ladang Park
This nice park is located at the central city of Nganjuk close to the Anjuk Ladang Stadium. It is located in the heart of Nganjuk town and the location is so shady and full of trees. It has equipped with children playground, jogging track, swimming pool and camping ground. The nuance around is so cool and fresh air because it has many trees and grass. Anjuk Ladang Park also has animal collection and the visitors can take a picture with them. Those animals is in various kind, such as; deer, monkeys, birds, etc.
