East Java On March

The East Java’s Calendar of Events 2012 contains the schedule of some traditional ceremonies, traditions, festivals and performances which held in the cities and the regencies in East Java. It is designed to promote and to publicize the tourism agenda in the whole area in East Java.



It is important to inform that the local communities usually determine the schedules of the ceremonial events by using the calendars of Javanese, Moslem, and Hindu Tenggerese. Therefore, to assure the exact date of the events, it is advisable to confirm the local Government Tourist Offices.



We hope the East Java’s Calendar of Events 2012 will be helpful and useful for visitors and travelers.

2 March - JALANIDHIPUJA SEA OFFERING
The religious rituals of Hindu society that are consecutively held in 3 days before Nyepi holiday on the beach of Balekambang. The ceremony launches offerings to the sea to express thanksgiving and pray together to drive away the evil spirit.

30 March – 4 April - OFF ROAD COMPETITION
The natural potential and panoramas of Batu City is supporting for off road sport activities. Besides supporting the friendship and togetherness among the off road members. Moreover, it can also promote BATU landscape, for the participants will come from throughout Indonesia.

ELECTION OF MR. & MISS. OF EAST JAVA TOURISM: RAKA-RAKI
To develop talent, interest and capability of young generation in the field of tourism and to increase their participation in the development of the tourism sector, East Java Government Culture and Tourism Service holds a regular annual election of tourism ambassador (Raka-Raki) for East Java Province. It is participated by 38 regencies / cities in East Java. The program activities include: coaching, debriefing, and the empowerment of Tourism Ambassadors.

The Pudel Show On Taman Safari Indonesia II

Taman Safari Indonesia II



Taman Safari Indonesia II is located in Jatirejo Village, Prigen sub-district, Pasuruan regency. This venue having an elevation between 800-1500 above sea level.



Taman Safari Indonesia II was designed with two concepts in mind, combining modern zoo tourism with an area of natural beauty.

It was opened for the public on December 29, 1997 by Governor of East Java Bpk. Basofi Sudirman. At that time it held about 900 animals from 125 different species. Now the collection has more than 2500 animals from 200 different species.



This object is a wildlife sanctuary conservation and institution that occupies an area of 340 ha. It can be reached about an hour from Surabaya or Malang. The visitors can watch wildlife as their natural habitat, based on where its life, which is divided into 4 sections: Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa section.



Moreover, there are 3 other zones, which is, the animal life, the recreation zone as a place to show the attraction of wildlife and children's play ground. There is also, the baby zoo zone and Water World which features adventure swimming with crocodiles, to encloser the kids with the animals and the visitors can take some pictures on it.



Beside the facilities that provided by the managementm Safari Park is also having 2 packages that can be offer to ther visitors, which is Education Package and Outbound Package. According to the tag line that it has, “Concervation, Education And Fun”, Safari Park II has already complete the things that needed to make the living concervation.



For the visitors who do not use private cars, the management in the Safari Park Prigen provide special vehicle that would take them around throughout the protected forests. The visitors are not allow to give anything to the animals like, vegetables or snacks, in order to keep the savety among the visitors and the animals. Furthermore, while on the restrictive area like in wild beast zone, the visitors ar not allow to open the car window, for it can make dangerous to themselves.



To complete the adventures, the visitors will experience some more fun in the camping ground area. The trained guides will accompany your trip. Fresh air, rope climbing and flying fox will boost the adrenalin and release the tense during your daily activity. Just come and gather with your team or relatives to make an affordable sweet escape to get some fun experiences.

Blawan Waterfall

Blawan Waterfall



Blawan Waterfall is located in Kalianyar village, Sempol district. It is about 52 km of Bondowoso town. Blawan Waterfall is the continuation of Kali Pahit River, which is also the disposal place of the water from Kawah Ijen, which contains of much sulfur. The water from Blawan Waterfall goes down to the earth then it shows up again in Asembagus, Situbondo district.



Blawan waterfall is surrounded by sharp cliffs and there is also stalagmite cave. It is believed that a long time ago this cave was often used for meditate. There are also macadamia plants in this area. Besides Blawan Waterfall, there is also a hot water spring for bathing in this tourism area. The tourism facilities are including; a shelter, hotels, etc.

Around Coban Baung

The waterfall is 100 meters high as one of natural attractions. It is located at Purwodadi village exactly in the east of Purwodadi Botanical garden. It has surrounded by a protected forest with various animals like monkey, deer, etc. It has provided with camping ground.



This natural waterfall has clear water from the mountain and surrounded by natural forest. So that the visitor can relax to enjoy the scenery and fresh air with their family. The visitor also will show the fantastic fresh water that fall down from 100 meters height. This fantastic waterfall is only find in Pasuruan tourism.

Sanggrahan Temple

Sanggrahan Temple




Sanggrahan temple or Kuncup temple ws a Buddhist worship temple, the location is in the Sanggrahan Village, Boyolangu District, Tulungagung, East Java. The temple is square and consists of buildings, body and roof. This temple was the relics of the Majapahit Kingdom, it was built around 1350, was once become a temple to keep the ashes of Majapahit King's relatives.



The temple complex is located on the settlements that is quite fertile, and consists of three buildings, each of which is no longer intact. In general, the temple complex is comprises a main building and 2 pieces of the small remaining buildings. The main building has length 12.60m, width 9:05 m, height 5.86 cm. This building consists of four levels, each of which had a square floor plan with the roof facing to the west.



The small building is located on east side of the main building and it is just the bottom part left. Materials that used in its building is brick. In this place, it used to have five statues of Buddha that each of them have different mudra position. For security from theft, the statues are now stored in the temple's keeper.



Folk legend said that this temple was a place that used for the rest of his entourage that carrying the Gayatri corpse (Rajapadmi), who was a female Buddhist priest (Bhiksumi) in period of the Majapahit kingdom, Hayam Wuruk Government. The body was taken from the Kingdom of Majapahit to be burning ceremony at a place around Boyolangu.

The Traditional Cigar

Cigar Industry



Cigars are made of rolled dried tobacco leaves. Nusantara Plantation Corporation 10 lies eight kilometers north of Jember. The cigars are exported to Europe, America and Australia. However, it also produces Indonesian cigars for domestic consumption. All visitors can see the process of cultivating seedlings, drying tobacco leaves, picking as well as the making of cigars.



Dutch visitors can especially enjoy the nostalgia of the site as they participate in the agro tourism. The first people who introduced the process of tobacco cultivation were the Dutch. Jember became known to Europeans as the “Tobacco city” particularly in Germany. To reach the Nusantara Plantation the visitors can take public transportation from downtown.
